Apple releases first beta of iOS 15.5: final update before iOS 16? [U]
Not long after the release of iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 to the public, Apple is kickstarting the beta train yet again. The company is now rolling out the first betas of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to developer beta testers; this could represent the final iOS 15 update before iOS 16 is released this fall...
iOS 15.5 beta details
Today's new release of iOS 15.5 beta 1 is available to developers via an over-the-air update in the Settings app. As usual, if the update does not immediately appear for download, keep checking, as it sometimes takes a few minutes to roll out to all registered developers. The build number of iOS 15.5 beta 1 is 19F5047e.
iOS 15.5 comes after the feature-packed release of iOS 15.4, which added support for Face ID while wearing a mask, new emoji, Universal Control support on iPad and Mac, and much more. iOS 15.5 could also be the last major update to iOS 15, with Apple planning to unveil iOS 16 at WWDC in June.
Apple: This is the date of WWDC 2022
Again it will be an exclusively digital event
Apple has announced the date of WWDC 2022 (Worldwide Developers Conference), which for another year will be an exclusively digital event. However, for this year Apple has announced that it will hold a live session in Apple Park with some developers where they will attend the presentation.
WWDC 2022 will be held from 6 to 10 June 2022 and is the event where Apple traditionally announces everything about its software.
That is, it is also known as the presentation event of iOS 16 and the new versions of iPadOS, MacOS, tvOS and WatchOS.
Of course, WWDC is not just an event showcasing the latest Apple software but also its hardware, as history has shown (see new Mac Pro, HomePod, iMacs and iPad Pro). Therefore, we are waiting for what Cupertino's company has in store to announce in all areas.
Apple Watch saves the life of an elderly woman in the U.S.
The choice of an elderly woman in Florida to buy an Apple Watch proved to be a lifesaver. The Apple Watch realized it had fallen and automatically alerted for help.
The incident took place in the area of Saint Petersburg, in the state of Florida, USA, on March 3, 2022, when the unfortunate 71-year-old woman fell without realizing it and without being conscious. The Apple Watch called for help and the woman was taken to hospital.
The woman was diagnosed with lung cancer which was the cause of the fall due to reduced oxygen intake. The elderly woman considers herself extremely lucky that a wearable could indirectly lead to the early diagnosis of the serious health problem she was facing without knowing it.
The Apple Watch immediately after the fall sent a message to the cell phone of the woman's son who rushed to help. So, the proof that technology does not just unite us, sometimes it even saves us.

The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro each get green finishes
Apple announced at its "Peek Performance" event on Tuesday that the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro will each soon come in a green finish. The iPhone 13 lineup will be available in green, while the Pro phones will come in an "alpine green." You'll be able to preorder them on Friday, March 11th, and they'll be available on March 18th.
Apple offered green options with the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and iPhone 12, but there weren't green versions of the iPhone 13 when it launched last year. I personally think the new greens look really nice. Both used on the iPhone 13 phones are closer to the "midnight green" of the iPhone 11 Pro, rather than the lighter greens found on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12.
The company debuted an excellent purple for the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini at its spring event last year.

Apple M1 Ultra: How much better than other M1 processors?
Apple's brand new processor will power the Mac Studio desktop. But how does its performance compare to that of the other processors in the series?
At the recent Apple event, it became known that the new M1 processors will give ... meaning and even more substance to the desktop computers of the other company. We must not forget that Apple did not start its way with desktops, and the new Mac Studio, along with the M1 Max and M1 Ultra processors that power it, is the penultimate step before the complete transition from Intel Core and AMD processors Radeon. to ARM-based processors designed by Apple engineers. At the moment, the only desktop company that continues to use Intel "silicon" and AMD is the Mac Pro, but it should be considered certain that its successor will process an M1 series or rumored series processor. M2. But then we go to see how the backbone of apple processors is shaped, after the arrival of the m1 ultra.
On the Lower Staircase We meet the Apple M1, which powers the macbook air, the original version of the macbook Pro and the mac mini. One step above, are the most powerful m1 pro and m1 max, which are found in the 14-inch and 16-inch macBook Pro. On the top step we meet the M1 Ultra The M1 Ultra is available as an upgrade option in Mac Studio, an AIO 8-inch desktop reminiscent of a slightly larger version of the Mac mini or the old G4 Cube released 22nd years ago
The truth is that upgrading to the M1 Ultra costs money. More specifically, the implementation with the M1 Ultra costs € 4,949, almost double the € 2,499 of the base Mac Studio model that comes with the M1 Max.
More Dies, Better Communication
The rationale behind the design of the M1 Ultra is relatively simple. The new processor consists essentially of two M1 Max processors, which merge with each other to create a more powerful one through a high-speed interface. Apple's approach can not be described as completely innovative, as similar techniques were used by AMD in some Ryzen Threadripper processors. Also, some powerful workstation PCs use two or more Intel Xeon processors, which communicate with each other through specific interface protocols.
The merger of two dies may not have the required results, if the firmware and software are not adapted in such a way as to ensure that the applications that will run will use all the "horsepower" of the enlarged semiconductor. Apple said it has overcome this reef with the use of UltraFusion technology. We are practically talking about a "mediator", who transmits commands between the two parts of the M1 Ultra at lightning speeds of 2.5 TB / sec, according to Apple.
In addition to reducing bottlenecks in the M1 Ultra, UltraFusion considers all diesels as a single chip, which means developers do not have to rewrite their software code to take advantage of the new processor's increased power. At Tuesday's event, Apple said there was no such thing as UltraFusion again, saying it quadrupled the bandwidth of state-of-the-art interface technology. ExtremeTech provides more details about UltraFusion and other similar technologies from other manufacturers.
Double kernels, Double Price
The M1 Ultra has 20 cores, which are divided into 16 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores. This is a rapid increase compared to the M1 Max and M1 Pro, which have only 10 cores (8 high-performance cores and 2 efficiency cores). Theoretically, doubling the kernels will help to perform tasks that require a lot of computing power faster, while giving Apple the ... push to justify the high price of Mac Studio. The double number of cores is impressive at first glance, but in fact we should not forget that the M1 Ultra consists of two "welded" processors M1 Pro.
The new chip also comes with up to 64 graphics cores, twice as many as those found on the M1 Max and four times as many as those found on the M1 Pro. The cost of the version with the 64 graphics cores, of course, skyrockets to astronomical levels, reaching € 6,238. The basic version with the M1 Ultra has a 48-core GPU.
The above cores promise extreme performance, especially in specific processes that do not require maximum processing power for a long period of time. The company claims that the M1 Ultra is 1.9 times more powerful than Intel's 12th generation Core i9-12900K, when both run at 60 watts.
Of course, Apple's claims about the performance of the processor are unclear. The diagram above does not indicate specific applications or test conditions. To draw safe conclusions we will need to run our own tests. However, we assume that Apple's claims concern measurements made in specific applications that run natively on the M1 and are optimized for macOS.
128GB of memory, only if you need them
Instead of the classic mode where the CPU and GPU each use their own memory, the M1 uses a single memory to meet the needs of the CPU and GPU. This memory is part of the SoC for faster access.
This approach was also adopted by the M1 Ultra, but bringing a higher memory limit to 128 GB. However, the basic model comes with 64 GB, while the 128 GB cost 1,050 euros extra. This means that the upgrade is only necessary if you are using applications that require more than 64GB of memory.
Thermal behavior - Noise levels
Naturally, a larger processor with more cores and memory also needs the appropriate cooling system to dissipate heat.
Apple says it has carefully designed the Mac Studio cooling system so that it does not cause noise. But if you push the M1 Ultra to its limits then you will probably hear noise from the fans. How loud will the noise be? Probably not so powerful, given the previous Macs, such as the 27-inch iMac.
However, the presence of any fan puts it one step behind Mac Studio's ancestor, the G4 Cube, which did not need an active cooling system at all. Once we get our hands on Mac Studio, we will run a series of benchmarks to get a more complete picture of its performance. Until then, stay tuned to PCMag.
Last-minute Apple event rumor claims Apple will release a new iPhone 13 model in green
As we're almost 24 hours away from the first Apple event of the year, a last-minute rumor claims that alongside the iPhone SE 3, the company will also unveil a new color for the iPhone 13 model.
According to YouTuber Luke Miani's own sources, Apple will introduce a new iPhone 13 color in dark green. He says that after Apple unveiled a purple iPhone 12 during last year's Spring Loaded event, the company is planning to do the same with the last iteration of its flagship phone.
Whether this turns out to be true, expect the same specs inside this iPhone 13: two sizes, A15 Bionic chip, improved camera sensors, as well as up to 512GB of storage.
Miani also claims he has the first look of the Mac Studio, which 9to5Mac exclusively reported that Apple was developing.
The YouTuber has a mixed record of leaks. For example, he said before the Unleashed event that the 2021 MacBook Pro would feature an illuminated and backlit Touch ID button. He also incorrectly said that AirPods 3 would launch last May, but Miani was partially correct that Apple Music HiFi would launch on May 17/18 of 2021.
With Apple launching the iPhone SE 3 tomorrow, it doesn't make sense for the company to share this iPhone's spotlight with a new iPhone 13 color. Although Apple has unveiled new colors for its flagship iPhones after a few months before (iPhone 7 and iPhone 12, for example), it never did so while introducing a brand new smartphone.
Of course, in about 24 hours we'll be able to check for ourselves whether or not Apple is planning or not to release a new iPhone 13 in green.

How to Show Battery Percentage on iPhone
If you have an iPhone with a notch, you'll have noticed that the battery level indicator in the top-right corner of the screen doesn't show the actual percentage of battery that's left.
With older iPhones that feature no notch, Apple includes an option within settings to toggle the percentage on or off, but if your iPhone has a notch, there's no setting that will enable it.
Fortunately, there are a few ways you can still keep tabs on the battery percentage of a newer iPhone that we've outlined below. Keep reading to learn how they work.
1. Invoke Control Center
The easiest way to check the percentage level of your iPhone's battery is to swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center. You'll immediately see the percentage shown next to the battery icon in the top-right.
You don't even need to open Control Center fully to bring up the percentage. A small, quick drag diagonally down from the top-right corner of your iPhone screen will reveal it, and removing your finger from the screen will take you back to the Home Screen.
2. Open Today View
You can also check the battery percentage of your iPhone by using the Batteries widget in the Today View, accessed by swiping right on the Lock screen or on your Home screen's first screen of apps.
If you don't have it installed already, you can add the Batteries widget manually. To do so, enter the Today view, scroll to the bottom of the column of widgets and press the Edit button. Tap the plus (+) button in the top-left corner of the screen to open the Widget Gallery, then enter "Batteries" in the search field or scroll down and select the Batteries widget from the list.
If you don't have any Apple accessories paired with your iPhone, the first square widget will display the battery percentage. If you have an Apple Watch or AirPods though, you won't see the percentage unless you select the second or third widget style. Swipe to the widget that works for you, then tap Add Widget to add it to the Today View.
3. Add a Battery Widget to Your Home Screen
If you want to be able to see the battery percentage of your iPhone when it's unlocked and on the Home Screen, add a battery widget to it.
To do so, long press on a blank area of the Home Screen or any additional screen of apps to enter jiggle mode.
Swipe to the widget that works for you, then tap Add Widget to add it to your Home Screen.
4. Ask Siri
If you're a fan of Siri, you can always ask the virtual assistant "How is the battery life of my iPhone?" or even "How's my battery?" and you should get an answer.
Top tip: You can also ask Siri this question of any Apple accessories you're using, such as Apple Watch or AirPods.
5. Plug in your iPhone
Anytime your iPhone is plugged in and charging, you'll see the battery percentage automatically displayed on the Lock Screen, just below the time.
Interested in extending the lifespan of your iPhone's battery? Apple includes an option in its Battery Health settings called "Optimized Battery Charging" that learns from your personal device habits and waits to finish charging all the way up until you need your iPhone. The incredible trick to get water out of your iPhone (and not with rice)
How is it done?
On the iPhone 14 you will have 120Hz ProMotion and 6GB RAM with a price below one thousand
First, you need to install the Apple Shortcut application.
Then, from your iPhone, tap Download shortcut on this page.
The Shortcut app will open automatically - click the Add Shortcut button.
Then go to "My Shortcuts" at the bottom.
Press the Water Export button and then "Start Water Export".
Wait for the process to complete, which uses low-frequency sound to push water out of your iPhone.
Remember though that it is not a formal repair and can do as much as it can, but at least it can save you a lot of damage to your iPhone. However, make sure that you have backed up any valuable photos and other data, otherwise you risk losing them all.
There is no guarantee that your iPhone will work perfectly
Not even if it works, it may not be forever. But you have at least one more chance to save it.
Apple's core iPhone 14 series this fall could look a lot like last year's premium iPhone 13 Pro. Two features previously intended for the Pro models are rumored to be available in the base models.
ProMotion, Apple's brand of variable refresh rate, was exclusive to the iPad Pro until last fall. It was then that the company put 120 Hz refresh rate support on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.
The new design of iPhone 14
Apple is expected to make the official announcement of the iPhone 14 next September, with many sources from the supply chain stating that the company has already finalized the design of the device.
The iPhone 14 as it seems will be equipped with a pill-shaped design, something we have seen many times in the field of Android, something that will allow it to further increase the screen-to-body ratio. However, design will not be the only emphasis of the company.
According to information, this year's iPhones will be equipped with significant hardware upgrades, one of which is the storage space that will reach the 2TB QLC type, which is not considered as good as the TLC storage space.
FAME: Eventually the iPhone 14 will come with 8GB RAM
There have been a lot of rumors and leaks lately about Apple's upcoming iPhone 14 series. Initially, as we informed you recently, many say that all iPhone 14 models will be released with 120hz, as well as with 6GB of RAM. In iPhone 13 we find 120hz only in Pro models and this will probably change with the new phones.
However, according to new reports coming from Korea, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will eventually come with 8GB of RAM. According to the report of "yeux1122", through a Korean blog, in which he cites various sources from a large chain of products, the mass production of 8GB RAM for the iPhone 14 Pro models has come to the fore.
Earlier leaks said that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would have more RAM than the "simple" iPhone 14 and this leak from Korea comes once again and adds fuel to the fire.

FAME: Apple will remove the SIM card slot from the iPhone very soon
Now, the American company seems to be preparing to take the next step, completely eliminating the classic SIM card slot on the next iPhone and adopting exclusively eSIM technology.
Specifically, the gossip started from the Brazilian website BlogDoiPhone, which claims that the iPhone 15 Pro will come to the market without a card slot, instead supporting two phone numbers via eSIM.
The final "hit" came from the reliable leaker DylanDKT, who is responsible for many recent leaks and who in turn came to agree with the rumors. Below you can find his relevant post:

Apple stops signing iOS 15.1.1, blocking downgrade from iOS 15.2
Following the release of iOS 15.2 to all users last week, Apple today stopped signing iOS 15.1.1 for iPhone 13 models and iOS 15.1 for older iPhone models. This means that users who updated their devices to iOS 15.2 can no longer downgrade to iOS 15.1.1 or iOS 15.1.
Back in November, Apple had stopped signing iOS 15.1 for iPhone 13 models as those devices received the iOS 15.1.1 update to fix a specific bug affecting this year's iPhones. Now with iOS 15.2 available, iOS 15.1 and iOS 15.1.1 are no longer signed for any iPhone and iPad models.
iOS 15.1 was released to all users in late October with some new features, including the COVID-19 vaccination certificate in the Wallet app, SharePlay on FaceTime, ProRes for iPhone 13 Pro users, and more. The update also brought an option to manually disable Macro mode on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Reverting to older iOS builds is often used by those who jailbreak their iPhones. Restoring an iPhone or iPad to a previous version of iOS can also sometimes be helpful for users who experience significant bugs after upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
If you have experienced any serious issues with iOS 15.2, unfortunately, you'll now have to wait until a future update rather than downgrading to iOS 15.1.1 or iOS 15.1 Users running iOS 15.3 beta can no longer downgrade to iOS 15.1.1 or iOS 15.1 either.
Apple closes stores in USA, Canada due to cases
Apple is indefinitely postponing its plans to return its staff to the company's offices, as reported by the Bloomberg news agency.
Apple is indefinitely postponing its plans to return its staff to the company's offices, as reported by the Bloomberg news agency. In particular, the American high-tech giant announced that it is temporarily shutting down three stores in the US and Canada, following an increase in coronavirus infections. Apple originally planned to return employees to their offices on February 1 of the new year, according to the agency, citing an internal report by the head of the company, Tim Cook. In addition, the latter noted that a month earlier, before the new date, there will be a relevant information to employees. At the same time, $ 1,000 will be given to each person to remodel their home infrastructure so they can work remotely.
Apple - iPhone production is temporarily suspended due to a pandemic and shortages
For the first time since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Apple has been forced to cut production of the iPhone due to supply chain disruptions.
This is stated in a publication of the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, in which it is pointed out that this is the first time in the last decade that the American company stops its production "for several days". The reason for the outage is supply problems with specific materials and components, while restrictions on electricity use in China also seem to play a role.
The newspaper claims that the above have been cross-referenced "by multiple sources, with knowledge of the subject".
According to the article, this is the week of each year that Apple production peaks in order to meet the increased demand of the upcoming Christmas holiday season.
An anonymous executive of a supply chain company that works with Apple reveals to Nikkei that "due to the limited resources in components and microchips, it no longer makes sense to pay overtime, this has not happened again".
It is noted that Apple had timely cut production forecasts for the iPhone 13 since October. In addition, by November the company had suspended iPad deliveries to maintain some production pace for the iPhone 13, which did not seem to be enough. Apple's original goal was to build 95 million iPhone 13s (various versions) by the end of 2021, but that goal was revised in early December to 83-85 million units.
According to the Nikkei, in September and October production of the iPhone 13 had fallen by 20% compared to initial forecasts. Respectively, iPad production had achieved only 50% of the expected rate for the same period of time. Production of older iPhone models had fallen by 25%, while the situation did not improve in November.

These are the top songs of Spotify and Apple Music for 2021
Towards the end of the year, Spotify and Apple Music revealed the most popular songs on their platforms for 2021. Pop seems to be the choice of most, with Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift and Bad Bunny being among the most popular artists this year.
However, a relatively new presence topped Spotify. The reason for Olivia Rodrigo and the song Drivers License which was the most streamed song on Spotify for 2021.
At Apple Camp, BTS topped Dynamite. The song was released in 2020 and did not even make it into the Spotify top five, mainly because the service made its debut in South Korea (the country of origin of the BTS) just this year.
Montero (Lil Nas X), Stay (The Kid Laroi), Good 4U (Olivia Rodrigo) and Levitating (Dua Lipa) complete the top five songs with the most plays for 2021 on Spotify. In the more "American-centric" Apple Music the list changes with Drivers License (Olivia Rodrigo) in second place, followed by Positions (Ariana Grande), For The Night (Pop Smoke) and Binding Lights (The Weeknd).
According to Spotify, the most popular artist with the most streams this year is Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny with 9.1 billion streams, who stated that "I do not do it to become number one on streams, I just make music, I just enjoy my work" . Taylor Swift, BTS, Drake and Justin Bieber complete the top five.
Note that Spotify and Apple Music make up 48% of the global streaming market. Each of Spotify's top five songs has surpassed 1 billion streams in the last twelve months.

Apple is preparing a new iPhone SE for 2022
The most affordable iPhone on the market is renewed!
It seems that Apple has plans to release a third generation iPhone SE in 2022 . It is the most economical iPhone model of the company, which although it does not have the same design as the flagships, brings most of their software and hardware features, which makes it very affordable.
More specifically, thanks to the four models of the iPhone 13 series, total iPhone production increased to 51.5 million in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 22.6% over the previous period. Samsung, however, remained at the top in terms of total production for the period.

Jamf CEO calls Apple Business Essentials a 'terrific opportunity'
AppleInsider is supported by its audience and may earn commission as an Amazon Associate and affiliate partner on qualifying purchases. These affiliate partnerships do not influence our editorial content.
Apple's new entry into the mobile device management space, Apple Business Essentials, isn't a threat to Jamf - instead, its CEO says it could represent a "terrific opportunity."
The Jamf chief executive, Dean Hager, told Computerworld on Friday that Apple's announcement of the new Apple Business Essentials Service is "good news." He said that "when Apple innovates, Jamf celebrates."
"We are going to fill the gap between what Apple builds and the enterprise requires," he said. "We see Apple Business Essentials customers as a new market of new small business coming up, and we will ensure our additional products sell well into that base and add extra value. We'll give them a path forward into more robust and scalable solutions."
According to analysts, that has long been Jamf's strategy. Although Apple Business Essentials may technically compete with Jamf's MDM solutions, analysts believe that Jamf has always succeeded when it enhances what Apple offers.
Hager agrees with that characterization, stating that Jamf actually grew when Apple released rival features or services. The company continually works to bridge the gap between Apple's platforms and the more complicated needs of larger enterprise customers.
In fact, Hager says that Apple Business Essentials makes sense as an MDM strategy because it fills the entry-level tier - a space that does not require the features and complexity offered by Jamf's Apple Business Manager.
"These problems needed to be solved," he said. "This is going to raise Apple's profile in business. The weakest spot for Apple in business has always been for the small businesses who just want to get started."
Apple introduces device management solution aimed at small business
For many small businesses, trying to manage their employees' Apple devices and keep them up-to-date is a huge challenge. These businesses tend to lack sophisticated IT departments, and when devices break down or users have questions, they are often left to figure out things on their own using Apple's consumer support tools.
Recognizing this issue, Apple acquired Fleetsmith last year, and today the company announced the beta of a device management solution called Apple Business Essentials aimed squarely at businesses with less than 500 employees.
Susan Prescott, vice president of enterprise and education marketing at Apple, said that the company wanted to help these customers onboard, support and update employee Apple devices, then offboard them when workers leave the company.
"It is designed to manage Apple devices across that lifecycle of the device and it's comprised of three core pieces. It's got device management, along with storage, as well as support in one single subscription," Prescott explained.
The management component is composed of a combination of the Fleetsmith acquisition and the Apple Device Enrollment Program. It enables small businesses to have access to a similar set of tools as their larger counterparts, giving them more control over the devices and ensuring they work as soon as the employee logs in.
After a business signs up for the service, admins can create users and groups. Users belong to groups and admins can set up a configuration for each group that includes the number of supported devices and an amount of storage. Each company or group can also include a base set of apps that make sense for that group.
It's worth noting that employees can bring their own devices, and when they sign in to a supported device, the company will set up a work profile for them. That way, only their work product is backed up, and should they leave the company, only their work will be deleted, leaving their personal stuff intact and out of the reach of the employer.
Regardless of whether it's a personal or work-owned device, the solution also helps maintain security by keeping it up-to-date with the latest system updates. In addition, it enables admins to enforce security settings such as FileVault full-disk encryption on the Mac or Activation Lock to lock down any Apple device should it be lost or stolen.
The storage piece comes from iCloud, although companies are free to connect to a third-party storage provider like Dropbox. The support element will include help desk services for both the IT department running Apple Business Essentials and employees who have any Apple-related questions. That part will be handled through AppleCare+, Apple's business-level support arm. Finally, when it launches out of beta, it will also include onsite service, whether in an office or at home, within four hours of reporting an incident. The latter will be run by Apple partners.

Will Apple overtake the iPhone 13 due to superstition?
It may seem funny at first glance, but Apple could listen to the cautious and forget about the iPhone 13. That would mean we're going straight to the iPhone 12S for the upcoming model.
To be honest, Apple has already used the number 13 on both the A13 Bionic chip and iOS 13, so the rumors about the iPhone 13 will probably not work. However, there is a discussion going on about it on the Internet. On the other hand, the iPhone 9 was bypassed, not for precautionary purposes and phobias, but because it wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the iPhone launch.
The September event will answer all these rumors, about whether the next model will be called iPhone 13 or iPhone 12S, as Apple is used to in its intermediate models. What is certain is that the next iPhone will have quite interesting technology that will justify its presence.
What is the Apple M1 chip?
M 1: An integrated system on a chip
On large, powerful machines such as workstations and gaming computers, the CPU and GPU are completely separate components, each connected to the motherboard. Smaller ultraportable laptops typically combine the CPU and GPU into a single component using what is known in the industry as integrated graphics processing with the rest of the computer, including cache, RAM, and storage. , located at different points on the motherboard.
As an evolution of Apple's A-Series processors that have long powered the iPhone and iPad, the M1 chip takes a different approach. Instead of a collection of separate parts, it is a single integrated system on a chip (SoC). The SoC handles all processing, including graphics output, which means that any software can use the most efficient part of the M1.
Eight additional cores are dedicated to graphics processing, similar to the way Intel Iris embedded graphics work. On the Mac mini, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, the graphics section of the M1 is capable of powering an external display at 60Hz and up to 6K resolution, such as the Apple Pro Display XDR .
In addition, the M1 has a built-in storage controller for data traffic to and from the Mac SSD, as well as various other processors, controllers, and sensors that handle encryption, webcam image processing, and other sub-tasks required for computer operation.
The M1 chip uses a production process at 5 nanometers, similar to the latest A14 chip in the iPhone 12 . Meanwhile, the latest CPU 11 th of Intel generation using manufacturing process 10 nanometers, with Intel not waiting for new chips based 7nm smaller or no earlier than 2022. Intel said Tuesday that its CPUs "provide global customers with the best experience in the areas they value most, as well as the most open platform for developers, both today and in the future." But the great inequality in production technology speaks for itself. The latest computer processors for desktops and laptops, as well as mobile devices of its competitor, AMD, are in the process of production of 7 nanometers.

Apple: Reduce iPad production - Release iPhone 13 accessories
Production of the iPad had dropped by 50% compared to Apple's original plans for the previous two months, according to a report in the same newspaper, which added that accessories intended for older versions of the iPhone are already being used in the production of the iPhone 13.
Apple partially prioritizes the production of the iPhone 13, because it predicts that there will be greater demand in the field of smart phones, compared to iPad devices, as Western markets begin to recover from the pandemic, according to the same publication. citing anonymous sources.

Apple lost $6 billion to chip shortage and manufacturing delays in Q4, Tim Cook says
It's still hard to find an iPhone 13 Pro, and the new MacBook Pros are heavily backordered
Apple today posted strong earnings for its fourth fiscal 2021 quarter, reporting all-time highs for its services and Mac divisions. The company says it took in revenue of $83.4 billion, a year-over-year increase of 29 percent, and earnings per share of $1.24. That earnings number came in below Wall Street expectations of $84.85 billion.
CEO Tim Cook told CNBC that supply chain constraints had a clear impact on financial results this quarter. "We had a very strong performance despite larger than expected supply constraints, which we estimate to be around $6 billion," Cook said, attributing the supply issues to "the industry-wide chip shortages that have been talked about a lot and COVID-related manufacturing disruptions in Southeast Asia." Apple expects an even greater loss from supply chain issues in the December quarter, it said during Thursday's earnings call.
The company is fresh off the launch of several new products, including the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, a new iPad mini, ninth-gen iPad, Apple Watch Series 7, third-generation AirPods, and most recently, the eagerly anticipated MacBook Pro powered by Apple silicon. The latest iPhones weren't released until late in the quarter, but the iPhone business as a whole continued to show strong momentum and was up 47 percent over a year ago. The iPad was also up 21 percent over the year-ago quarter.
Like other large tech companies, and as Cook made clear, Apple is dealing with major supply chain challenges: the high-end iPhones remain difficult to find in stock at Apple retail locations, and its 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros are already severely backordered. If you don't want to deal with long shipping delays, the best option is routinely checking stock at local Apple stores. But even that's not a guaranteed strategy, and the reality is that buying Apple's latest gadgets is more difficult than in years past.
iPhone loyalty rate continues to exceed 90%, new CIRP data shows
CIRP: Apple tops user loyalty chart in the US
Apple has always enjoyed a strong position in the United States - and the latest report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) revealed over 90% of iPhone users remain loyal to the brand. For comparison, under 70% of Samsung users purchase a new phone from the same company.
CIRP pointed out that a large part of that is the vertical integration that means Apple is the only company to make iOS devices. In comparison Android users easily can move from one maker to another while retaining their favorite features. In fact the Samsung percentage is pretty high because American customers don't have a wide variety of choices - pretty much none of the Chinese brands sell in the USA, allowing LG and Motorola to appear on a chart like the good old days.
Data also revealed Apple accounts for 43% of all smartphone sales in the United States in the last three years. Second is Samsung with 31%, and LG third with 9%, although we expect changes here since the latter Korean company closed its smartphone division.

Japan Fair Trade Commission closes App Store investigation
CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA Apple today announced an update coming to the App Store that closes an investigation by the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC). The update will allow developers of “reader” apps to include an in-app link to their website for users to set up or manage an account. While the agreement was made with the JFTC, Apple will apply this change globally to all reader apps on the store. Reader apps provide previously purchased content or content subscriptions for digital magazines, newspapers, books, audio, music, and video.
To ensure a safe and seamless user experience, the App Store’s guidelines require developers to sell digital services and subscriptions using Apple’s in-app payment system. Because developers of reader apps do not offer in-app digital goods and services for purchase, Apple agreed with the JFTC to let developers of these apps share a single link to their website to help users set up and manage their account.
Before the change goes into effect in early 2022, Apple will update its guidelines and review process to make sure users of reader apps continue to have a safe experience on the App Store. While in-app purchases through the App Store commerce system remain the safest and most trusted payment methods for users, Apple will also help developers of reader apps protect users when they link them to an external website to make purchases.
“Trust on the App Store is everything to us. The focus of the App Store is always to create a safe and secure experience for users, while helping them find and use great apps on the devices they love,” said Phil Schiller, Apple Fellow who oversees the App Store. “We have great respect for the Japan Fair Trade Commission and appreciate the work we’ve done together, which will help developers of reader apps make it easier for users to set up and manage their apps and services, while protecting their privacy and maintaining their trust.”
This update follows a number of changes to the App Store announced last week, which give developers more flexibility and resources to reach their customers, tailor their price points, and grow their businesses. Last week, Apple also launched the News Partner Program to support local journalism and help news organizations on the App Store.
With the update announced today, the App Store continues to evolve to be an even better marketplace for users and developers alike. Already, Apple provides more than 30 million registered developers with all the tools, resources, and support they need to create and deliver software to over a billion customers around the world on Apple platforms.

Apple strongly supports the new photo control technology in the iPhone
We have faced demands for change creation and development by governments that have degraded user privacy in the past and we have clearly denied these demands. We will continue to deny them in the future. Let's be clear, this technology is limited to detecting CSAM (child sexual abuse material) stored in iCloud and we will not accept any government request to extend it.
Even a carefully recorded, methodically designed and narrowly targeted tailgate is still a tailgate. We have seen this mission in action again. One of the technologies that was originally created to scan and find images of child abuse, has been redesigned to create a database of "terrorist" content to which companies have access and input in order to download such content. All it takes to expand the narrow rear door Apple builds is an extension of machine learning to look for other types of content. - Electronic Frontier Foundation

Apple will scan your photos for child abuse images
Apple's detection method, known as CSAM, is designed with a focus on user privacy. Instead of scanning images in the cloud, the system scans the device using a database of known CSAM image hashes, provided by NCMEC and other child protection organizations. Apple also transforms this database into a set of hashes that cannot be read and is securely stored on users' devices.

Gurman is also confident about the release of a redesigned MacBook Pro with a mini LED display. Apple expects to start production in the summer and its unveiling to take place between September and November. The new MacBook Pros will have a design level similar to the new iMacs, will include a more powerful chip than the Apple M1, will support up to 64GB of RAM and will have more ports.

The battery has been significantly improved and offers 18 hours of web browsing and 20 hours of video playback, increasing user productivity per charge. The German government warns Tim Cook about the CSAM photo detection system
Big privacy issues are being raised in Europe for Apple
Apple's CSAM detection system promises to detect child abuse on users' phones. While the purpose is noble the question is whether it sanctifies the media as many believe that it will simply open the Aeolus Bag for a wider monitoring of users by governments and companies.
Although CSAM will only be available in the US when activated, Hoferlin says it will be " the biggest tracking tool in history " and that it could cost Apple access to large markets if the company sticks to this strategy. , indirectly threatening her with a ban from Germany and the European Union.
Apple tried to mitigate the reactions, saying that the system will be open for inspection by third parties and that it will allow users to inspect the root hash database and compare it with the database in the article "Knowledge Base". It also emphasizes that users can keep their photos outside the CSAM system by disabling iCloud Photos.
Tim Cook hides another ace up his sleeve before retiring
He will not be at the helm of Apple for the next decade
Tim Cook has been at the helm of Apple for a decade, but he does not intend to run for CEO again. According to the Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, Tim Cook wants to oversee Apple's introduction of at least one other major product category. Apple is currently working on several projects that have not yet been officially unveiled, such as the electric car and augmented reality devices.
Gurman emphasizes that Apple intends to release a mixed reality headset in 2022, but also AR glasses at some point " in the middle of the decade ". He estimates that Cook is expected to step down as Apple CEO sometime between 2025 and 2028. A previous Bloomberg report revealed that Apple is already making plans to succeed Cook as it seeks to " cultivate the next generation of top managers ". .

Apple CEO Brings Home $750 Million Bonus
It pays to be the leader of Apple.
The company's CEO, Tim Cook, was recently given a bonus of $750 million worth of Apple stock, marking his 10th anniversary as CEO.
The bonus was revealed Thursday in a regulatory filing.
He promptly cashed out the 5 million shares, which were given based on both performance and time with the company.
The bonus plan was put in place after Cook had become CEO in 2011, shortly before the death of company co-founder Steve Jobs.
Since Cook took over the company, Apple's value has reached an estimated $2.4 trillion, and its share price has risen 1,200%, according to BBC.
Cook, who is estimated to be worth $1.4 billion, still owns 3.2 million shares of the company.
The regulatory findings also show Cook donated 70,000 shares, worth $10 million, to charity.
Before joining Apple in 1998, he worked for IBM and Compaq.
The Story Behind the First Apple Computer
Apple is now a brand recognized worldwide, especially for its line of smartphones. But, would you believe me that this multi-billion-dollar company was started in a garage? The genius mind that created this computer was Steve Wozniak who manually built all the hardware and self-developed all the software and even the operational system.
Steve Wozniak was working at the time for Hewlett Packard where he gained a lot of knowledge about computer hardware production. Since his youth, he always dreamed of building his own computer from scratch. He would spend hours on end drawing designs and patens on paper of how his computer would look like, until the day he actually did it.
36 Years Ago Today, Steve Jobs Unveiled the First Macintosh
Friday January 24, 2020 2:00 am PST by Juli Clover
On January 24, 1984, former Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the first Macintosh at Apple's annual shareholder's meeting in Cupertino, California, debuting the new computer equipped with a 9-inch black and white display, an 8MHz Motorola 68000 processor, 128KB of RAM, a 3.5-inch floppy drive, and a price tag of $2,495.
The now iconic machine weighed in at a whopping 17 pounds and was advertised as offering a word processing program, a graphics package, and a mouse. At the time it was introduced, the Macintosh was seen as Apple's last chance to overcome IBM's domination of the personal computer market and remain a major player in the personal computer industry.
A Computerland newspaper ad from the day the Macintosh was introduced
Jobs pulled the Macintosh out of a bag at the event, powered it on, and the Mac had a little message for everyone in attendance.
Hello, I'm Macintosh. It sure is great to get out of that bag.
Unaccustomed as I am to public speaking, I'd like to share with you a maxim I thought of the first time I met an IBM mainframe: NEVER TRUST A COMPUTER YOU CAN'T LIFT!
Obviously, I can talk, but right now I'd like to sit back and listen. So, it is with considerable pride that I introduce a man who's been like a father to me... STEVE JOBS.
Despite the high price at the time, which was equivalent to around $6,000 today, the Macintosh sold well, with Apple hitting 70,000 units sold by May 1984. The now iconic "1984" Super Bowl ad that Apple invested in and debuted days before the Macintosh was unveiled may have helped bolster sales.
After the Macintosh, Apple introduced the Macintosh II, the Macintosh Classic, the PowerBook, the Power Macintosh, the iMac G3, the iBook, and so on, eventually leading to the current Mac lineup, which includes the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, iMac Pro, Mac mini, and Mac Pro.
Today, Apple is one of the leading PC vendors in the world, shipping an estimated 18 million Macs worldwide in 2019. Then Apple competitor IBM is no longer in the personal computer business, having sold its technology to Lenovo back in the early 2000s.
Apple in the future is expected to continue expanding its popular Mac lineup, and current rumors suggest we can expect to see new 16-inch MacBook Pro models, a refreshed 13-inch machine with scissor keyboard, and, eventually, an ARM-based Mac.
Reputation: The iPhone 13 will have a signal wherever you are in the world
According to the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 13, in addition to screen and camera reproductions, will bring another one that will offer an advantage over the competition. According to Kuo, the iPhone 13 will offer satellite calls and messages, wherever you are in the world.
The user will be able to communicate even if he does not have a terrestrial signal from his provider, thanks to a modified version of the Q60comm X60 modem. It is not certain whether satellite support will be limited to specific applications.
Rumors of satellite support for the iPhone have been around since 2019, but estimates then set a five-year window for commercialization. In addition, satellite communications are very expensive, which raises questions about how this service will be charged. If the rumors are true, the iPhone 13 will be the first mainstream smartphone that will offer connectivity wherever you are on the planet. We will find out the truth in September, when the official presentation of the phone is expected.
